Recent talks

I gave a couple of public talks in the last couple of weeks. The first was on Jan 26 as part of the Sunday evening chapel service at Acadia. The theme for this semester, which each weekly speaker is asked to address, is “Community in the Postmodern Era.” About a week and a half later I have got around to typing up something from my notes and have posted it on my academia.edu site: here.

The second was a panel discussion on “Freedom in the Anthropocene” on Jan 30. That was co-organized by the College of Sustainability at Dalhousie University and the Halifax chapter of the Platypus Affiliated Society. My co-panelists were Dave Bedford (UNB), Halifax-based climate justice activist James Hutt, and Tim Luke (Virginia Tech). It was a great discussion. A short description and audio recording is available here.
